Instagram has faced some criticism for its algorithmic-based feed that ends up showing irrelevant recommended posts. Last month, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri revealed that this will change soon and even rolled back a few features it introduced recently. The social media app, owned by Meta Platforms, is now allowing users to select and indicate that they are “not interested” in multiple posts at once within the Explore tab, the section on the app where users can discover content and accounts they aren’t already following. Previously, a user could only mark content as irrelevant one post at a time.

The launch of the new features comes as Instagram recently decided to temporarily reduce the number of suggested posts that users see. The change followed intense backlash from users who expressed frustration over the app’s gradual transition away from being a place where users could mainly see photos of their friends and family into an app that’s overcrowded with recommended posts.

Instagram also highlights some of its tools for you to “see more of what you want on your Instagram Feed.” These include the bifurcation of your feed into Following and Favorites, the Not Interested tool, the ability to Snooze Suggested Posts, and adjustments to the Sensitive Content Control section.
